So long antivirus, Sandboxing now the top priority for security professionals
92% of security workers put sandboxing top of their wish list
Sandboxing has come top of a global survey as the most effective defense strategy against malware, as security leaders wake up to proactive measures.
Endpoint security company, Avecto surveyed more than 200 professionals at leading global security shows and found that holistically securing an organization's endpoint is a key priority with sandboxing a standout winner.
The survey found that 92% of respondents see sandboxing to be an effective method to counter attacks. Respondents also cited sandboxing as the most effective way to mitigate against Internet-borne malware (46%). Sandboxing is closely followed by patch management (38%), application control (30%). The speed at which sandboxing is climbing the priority list was also evident in the research findings, with 47% citing sandboxing as a priority over the next 12 months.
Paul Kenyon, executive vice president at Avecto said; "It's common knowledge that the internet is fundamental to today's workforce, but given the current threat landscape, security professionals cannot simply rely on reactive defenses like antivirus, proactivity is absolutely essential - which is why sandboxing is such an important solution.
"Following the launch of Defendpoint sandboxing, we've witnessed phenomenal interest both in the market and in the analyst community. No one else has the same combination of technologies in one single suite, a fact supported by Gartner analyst Neil MacDonald, and we're seeing orders and enquiries flying in thick and fast. An increasing number of organizations are turning to our layered defense in depth approach, with a crucial focus on mitigating web-borne malware. The success we've had so far with Defendpoint is testament to its unique and innovative approach to endpoint security, providing a simple yet extremely effective solution."
Avecto's Defendpoint security solution is an integrated endpoint security suite for proactive defense in depth. An industry first, it uniquely combines the technologies of privilege management, application control and sandboxing - emerging as one of the most critical elements in the security - to protect the operating system (OS), software environment and user data from unknown threats. Defendpoint's Sandboxing module complements patching and anti-malware strategies, adding a vital last line of defense against attacks that originate online while keeping users free to safely use the Internet.
